到百卉教書,無疑是我18年的教學生涯中最好的決定,我在這裏可將教師夢想化為現實。在這裏,我和同工堪稱教育的先驅,這才是學校應有的模樣。我們十分強調學生的福祉,並且採用綜合全面的正向教育課程,使學生擁有作為一个自信愉快的學習者所需的基本技能。百卉九江書院着重培養學生的同理心,藉着秉承持續性和社區服務的專題研究,啟發他們拓闊視野、辨別不同問題,最終改變本地乃至世界。我很榮幸能與此想法相近、對教育抱持熱情的專家共事,一同幫助所有孩子開拓潛能。我在百卉九江書院有很多與同事合作共教、互相學習的機會,尤其在駐校閱讀學習專家的指導下進教學方式,發展專業技能;因此,我在書院工作的時間雖短,但教學技巧已大有長進。在百卉九江書院,教師也要終身學習,以身作則,鼓勵學生有同樣的追求。

我在2019年秋天來到香港,那時沒想過會找到一所與自己教育理念相符的學校。其實早已預期自己的想法會與傳統的教育理念大相徑庭,甚至打算我行我素地帶領課堂和教學。然而,出於運氣(又或是鬼使神差吧!),我認識了梅可欣院長,於是就展開了在百卉九江書院工作的歷程。我選擇在百卉教書,是因為我全心認同這裏的教育理念。從確立書院全面教育的嶄新模式,到實踐我們看重的核心價值,這種由零開始、一點一滴地建設一所學校的機會是十分難得的。百卉九江書院彌補了香港教育中所欠缺的部分,我有幸加入其中,倍感自豪。

Founding Primary Teacher - English or Putonghua
Full Time, Permanent

Effective teachers who continually learn and set high expectations are the key to student academic and holistic success. In addition to the traditional responsibilities excellent teachers assume outside of the typical school day, the Founding Teacher will also assume the exciting responsibilities and challenges of starting a new school. A Founding Teacher will have proven teaching ability and be able to act as a pedagogical leader as the program grows.

We are seeking passionate educators who are committed to high quality teaching, creative and rigorous curriculum development, collaborative planning, multicultural education, innovative practices, hands-on learning, child-centered learning, and positive education. This teaching position provides significant opportunities for professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching

  • Claim ownership of the privilege and responsibility to ensure high levels of student development across all continua
  • Establish a supportive, positive classroom culture that sets high expectations and is student-centered
  • Consistently teach with purpose, clarity, effectiveness, and engagement
  • Carefully monitor student progress and make necessary adjustments to ensure students flourish
  • Work collaboratively to plan and implement regular field trips and real world learning opportunities
  • Implement and expand upon our chosen positive education program

Communication & Community

  • Communicate regularly with families as partners in the education of their children
  • Model expectations to students by arriving to school on time, being prepared to teach, and reflecting our values
  • Maintain strong communication lines with colleagues and regularly collaborate
  • Participate in and initiate productive student-centered discussions
  • Work to foster a positive, engaging work environment
  • Attend all professional development and staff meetings

Documentation

  • Ensure that curriculum documentation is up-to-date
  • Assist in development of curriculum mapping
  • Participate in the formation of the school’s strategic development
  • Regularly document student progress, including informal observations, running records, and quarterly reports
  • Perform clerical duties, as required

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum five (5) years of successful classroom (or similar) teaching experience
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Native fluency in English and/or Putonghua
  • Current teaching certification or licensure
  • Demonstrated academic excellence
  • Satisfactory criminal background check

Preferred Qualifications

  • M.A. or M.Ed.
  • Experience teaching PYP, project-based learning, Reggio Emilia, or similar programs
  • Specialist certification (reading, math, STEM, ISTE)
  • Ability to teach other content areas (arts, PE, etc.)
  • Prior leadership role (could be concurrent with classroom teaching roles)
